Who are we?

We are two outdoor-loving, sports enthusiasts, Jimmy and Caolan. We met working on a summer season in Messini, Greece, in 2021 and connected through our shared passions of fitness and sustainability.

We both feel that the fitness industry’s global outreach offers a unique opportunity to positively influence human behaviour. As global temperatures rise and extreme weather events occur more frequently, the time for action really is now.

We want to use Kata as a platform for brand activism. To raise awareness on sustainability, while also building a community of like-minded individuals to connect and share ideas.

Kata was conceptualised to deliver what the fitness industry is missing: sustainably-sourced sportswear that doesn’t let you down on quality, performance, style and without the hefty price tag.

Why ‘Kata’?

The origin started whilst working on a summer season in Greece. Both interested in fitness and inspired by our amazing surroundings we decided to abbreviate the Greek word for fitness, katalli̱lóti̱ta, and use hints of the Greek alphabet in our typography.

We believe balance to be very important in all aspects of life - and this is reflected in our logo. We feel the gap in the letter ‘K’ represents our mission to break away from the negative environmental impacts of the fashion industry and be the positive change we all need for people and the planet.

The ‘A’, ‘T’ and ‘A’ represents weighing scales which are balanced. Our logo represents our values to balance the high performance qualities you expect with responsible environmental impacts and human ethics.
